The people of Haiti lack access to quality education. Only 84% attend primary school and 46% continue on to the secondary level. A person in Haiti who is 25 years or older, has less than five years of schooling. School fees can be expensive for low-income families.
We believe that alleviating these barriers to education requires multiple approaches. The Youth Leadership Development & Enrichment Program guides youths to become community leaders, develop into productive citizens, avoid risky behaviors, and become role models to their peers. We do this through art workshops, slam poetry, and using community health awareness events to present educational and health awareness plays.
In continuing educational engagement, children receive additional academic support in the humanities, math, and sciences by participating in one-on-one or group tutoring with local teachers.
Life Skills Workshops
As children become young adults, these development skills workshops help educate on various topics including Etiquette, Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Mannerism, and more.
When school is out for the summer, we host educational local excursions in and around Les Cayes to give students different perspectives.
