Mental Health Program: Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Psychosocial Education Program

CapraCare’s Psychological First Aid (PFA) program provides ongoing psychological and emotional support to individuals affected by the earthquake and individual in need of emotional support. Outreach also includes families that have experienced a loss of life and the Fonfrede community as a whole.

This PFA is presented through individual counseling, support groups, social events, and psychosocial education workshops.

Our Psychological First Aid Program focuses on education and support designed to empower our staff with the skills to help someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis. Staffs have been trained and certified to interact with a person in crisis and how to connect the person with professional, peer, or other help. The training uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to recognize and respond to the warning signs of specific illnesses like anxiety, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
