Community Health Workers Training Program

CapraCare’s Community Health Workers (CHWs) are volunteers from the community who are trained and certified by the Haitian Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) to provide services to their community in Haiti.

Community Health Workers undergo extensive training in the areas of public health, Psychological First Aid (PFA) and mental health, emergency management and response, and professional development. They have competency in performing needs assessment, facilitating focus groups, and conducting community health education workshops.

The CHWs promote health, transform lives, and help members of their community to overcome barriers such as poor access to healthcare and education, social stigma, and discrimination. We provide ongoing services to adults through our health service education and vital sign recording program. CapraCare works in partnership with our partners to create a new cohort of highly skilled CHWs.

Our program brings Haitian and international professors, master’s-level college students, experts and professionals in the fields of medicine, public and mental health to assist in conducting core training, rendering services, and providing technical support to our volunteer staff on program assessment and developments.
